Your half-day 4×4 desert excursion begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Merzouga. From there, you’ll head off-road behind the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes for a heartwarming visit to a nomadic family. You’ll be welcomed with a cup of traditional tea and get a rare glimpse into their daily life and desert traditions. The journey continues to the historic Mefiss mines, once exploited by the French army during the colonial era. This fascinating stop reveals how locals once extracted minerals and natural eyeliner from underground.

After exploring the mines, you’ll head toward Khamlia village, known for its rich Gnawa heritage. Here, you can enjoy live traditional music and, if you wish, a local lunch. In the afternoon, the tour includes a peaceful stop at a desert oasis a lush pocket of green in the vast sea of sand. Finally, you’ll be transferred back to your accommodation in Merzouga, bringing your immersive desert experience to an end.

This excursion involves some off-road driving and light walking, so please wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Bring sun protection, water, and a camera to capture the incredible sights.
