On the way, make contact with the local nomads, visit original Berber villages and discover the country and its numerous traditions. Your 6 Days Morocco Desert tour Marrakech comes to an end in Fes.
Our adventure starts as we drive over the spectacular High Atlas mountains and away from Marrakech. We’ll pass by the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) and pause to enjoy panoramic views and small Berber towns hugging the hillsides. Our first important visit in the morning is UNESCO-protected Ait Ben Haddou, a magnificent fortified ksar with its earthen clay architecture and well known for his involvement in a variety of films including Gladiator, Game of Thrones. Following a guided tour and lunch, we drive on to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Sleep one night in an atmospheric riad or guesthouse.
After breakfast, we visit the main sight of Ouarzazate called Kasbah Taourirt. We then continue the journey to Skoura, where we visit the palm grove and hidden kasbahs; here, we visit Kasbah Amridil. Passing through the delightful Valley of Roses we follow the meandering road of the Dades gorge to the stunning Dades Gorge. On the way, we have the opportunity to see extraordinary rock formations and typical Berber villages. Dinner and overnight in a nice hotel located on top of the gorge.
This morning we continue into the Sahara. Our first stop is the incredible Todgha gorges where you can walk through towering 300m high canyons and where local idiot tourists will climb up the cliff faces. From there, we continue to Tinghir and Erfoud, with its fossil workshops and date markets. In the afternoon we arrive in Merzouga where we take part in camel trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will see the sun drop behind the dunes and then arrive to our camp, which is a typical Berber bivouac. Your magical evening concludes with dinner under the twinkling stars and local sounds.
Rise early to watch the sunrise over the dunes and return to camp for breakfast. It’s a day to explore the desert further than just the dunes. 4X4 drive then visit with nomads living in tents and discover their traditional lifestyle. Then we make a visit to Khamlia village to listen to live Gnawa music presented by villagers whose origins are connected to sub-Saharan Africa. We’ll also visit the M’fis mines and a little desert oasis. After a chilled lunch we go back to your Merzouga place near the dunes or the one you want to, to have a rest, and a quiet evening.
We drive long hours, but our beautiful landscapes make the journey easy and seamless to Fes after breakfast. The route cuts through the Ziz Valley, with panoramic vistas of one of Morocco’s largest palm groves. We stop in Midelt for lunch and drive on through the Middle Atlas Mountains. > From Azrou, we go to the cedar forest to see the macaques. A stop for refreshments in Ifrane, a town that looks more alpine than African and is sometimes called “Little Switzerland.” Late afternoon or early evening, we reach the imperial city of Fes. Overnight in a charming riad.
After breakfast, your 6 Days Morocco tour form Marrakech ends with a drop-off at your hotel or riad, airport, or another chosen location in Fes. You’ll return with memories that will last a lifetime of Moroccan culture and landscapes and hospitality. If you want to hit the road again, we are here to help with your next great adventure!

A Tour with very positive days in the mountains.” Each day offered a new experience, from the spectacular mountain landscapes of the High Atlas to the utter calm of the Sahara. Our guide Mohamed from Desert Excursion Morocco was very knowledgeable and genuinely kind. A dream come true riding camels across the dunes at sunset and spending the night in the desert etched in my memory. I particularly liked the visit to Ait Ben Haddou and the drive to Dades Valley. Accommodations are lovely, clean and cozy. I highly recommend Desert Excursion Morocco (Great experience!!).
I was so impressed with how well this tour was run. Desert Excursion Morocco everything was easy and no stress. Mohamed our driver-guide was professional, attentive and shared so many interesting facts about every spot stop. The camp in the desert was snug and the camel ride at sunset was magical. We encountered friendly villagers, explored ancient kasbahs, and saw landscapes that seemed lifted from movies. Each destination, including Marrakech and Fes, was a history-rich culture vulture’s dream. It was like the ideal mix of adventure and tranquility.
Morocco offers diverse weather across regions. Expect hot days in the desert, cool nights in the mountains, and moderate temps along the coast. Bring layers, a scarf or hat for sun protection, and a warm jacket for cooler evenings.
While cities accept cards, many villages, desert stops, and local shops don’t. Bring enough Moroccan dirhams, especially for snacks, souvenirs, and tips along the way.
Morocco is a Muslim country. Dress modestly, especially in rural areas and when visiting religious sites. Women may prefer wearing scarves in more conservative towns.
For the camel ride and desert stay, wear comfortable pants (not shorts), closed shoes or sandals, and bring a small backpack with water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a flashlight.
Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and riads, but don’t expect strong connections everywhere especially in the desert. Download maps and entertainment in advance.
If you need reliable communication or internet on the go, consider buying a local SIM card or ensuring your mobile plan covers Morocco.
Morocco is a large country and this tour covers a lot. Enjoy the scenery, bring snacks, and consider a travel pillow for comfort on the road.
Tipping your driver/guide, hotel staff, and local guides is a common and appreciated gesture in Morocco. Keep small bills for this purpose.
Part of what makes Morocco magical is its unpredictability. Be flexible, open-minded, and ready to experience real moments whether it’s dancing under desert stars or sipping mint tea with a nomadic family.
Traveling through different climates and regions especially the desert can dehydrate you quickly. Always carry a bottle of water (your driver can help you find clean bottled water on the way). When it comes to food, Moroccan cuisine is delicious, but it may be spiced differently than you’re used to. To avoid stomach upsets, ease into unfamiliar dishes, avoid raw foods in small roadside places, and consider bringing basic medication like probiotics or anti-nausea tablets just in case.
